THERON ATTORNEYS

Theron Attorneys is headed by Petrus Johannes Theron (Pieter senior), his son Pieter Daniel Theron (Pieter junior) and C.G. Kilian (Neels) who is a consultant for the firm.

The firm was established in 2003 when father and son agreed to combine their skills in a partnership. Pieter junior obtained his B.Proc. degree in 1998 at the age of 21 years at the Rand Afrikaans University after which he commenced with his articles at Thomson Wilks Attorneys in Rosebank.

He was subsequently appointed by the said firm as professional assistant where he specialised in civil litigation in both Magistrates and High Court. He has subsequently developed a great interest in property law and has been practising since 2003 in partnership with his father where he specialises in property law, conveyancing, bond origination, and drafting of contracts.

P. J. Theron (snr) has a vast experience in the field of law. He commenced with his career as a Public Prosecutor in 1964 after which he held the post of Senior Public Prosecutor, Assistant Magistrate, Magistrate and Senior Magistrate until he was appointed in 1985 as the Chief Magistrate of Randburg of both the civil and criminal courts where he had 27 magistrates offices across the country under his control and had one of the highest reputations in the country on the area of civil law.

During his career he was also a member of the Rules Board where he assisted in the creating and amendment of the rules of court. He also lectured on invitation at the Rand Afrikaans University as well as to attorneys and the Sheriff's of the Court. He currently practices law as an attorney and specialises in all areas of civil law, commercial law, property law and contracts.

Mr. C.G. Kilian obtained his masters degree in economic development from the University of Regensburg, Germany. He also obtained his masters degree in law from the University of Pretoria, South Africa and his undergraduate law degree from the University of Johannesburg, previously known as Rand Afrikaans University, South Africa. He has written an array of academic articles (and 1 book published by Lexis Nexis South Africa), mostly in The Company Lawyer which is published in the United Kingdom by Sweet & Maxwell. During 2007, he won an Oxford University Press award for the third best conference paper in Australia, Deakin University. He is member of the Compliance Institute of South Africa, and enjoys the status of a certified compliance professional. He is an admitted advocate, High Court of South Africa, and a legal consultant for Theron Attorneys.
